Shinoid’s paintings are hybrids of gestural/expressionistic movements and biomorphic or geometric forms. Each painting is a fantasy world of unrecognizable familiarity and distant intimacy. “I want the viewer to feel a sense of wonder when looking at my paintings. I invite them to be curious.” In Shinoid’s paintings, one will find the curiosity, the hopes, the contemplation and the amazement in living and being. Shinoid is often inspired by nature, geometry, human psyche, or digital things. The art is driven by the desire to find beauty at the in-between places that have blurred or merged boundaries – such as between Eastern and Western sensibilities, between nature and man-made, and between conscious thoughts and subconscious influences. Each of Shinoid’s works, may it be whimsical, rational, free-flowing or mechanical, is simply to construct the artist’s vision of beauty in life lived through both one’s consciousness and subconscious. By pursuing beauty as a truth, Shinoid wants to bring happiness to the viewers.
