As Kevin James once said, there is no better feeling in the world than a box of hot pizza on the laps, they have evolved from the time when they were first introduced to the world by the Italians as a plain round crust with little cheese. And, which was once a poor man’s food has undergone a complete transformation; as an entire food pyramid with assortments of cheese, tomatoes, olives, soy, veggies, chicken pepperoni, sausages, and many other nutritional toppings, its popularity is increasing and new varieties are being introduced every marked interval to suit the changing tastes. What’s more, it is a complete filling meal and can be enjoyed as a snack as well!
Ever heard of a pizza that looks like a bed of dry rose petals? Well, let us bake a ketchup pizza crackle pie with hot sauce. It will give you a different taste which is a mix of both sweet and tangy. And for that flavor frisson, you can swap pizza sauce with ketchup and without compromising on its taste.
Ketchup has been my personal favorite, so I never run short of it. Moreover, I hoard the unused sachets from home deliveries. Yet, homemade ketchup will never go out of style because of its fresh ingredients which are healthy as well as flavorful.
If you have decided to make ketchup at home, you need to be ready with the following ingredients:
Peeled tomatoes 1(14 ounces) canWater 1/2 cup Sugar  1/3cup Vinegar 1 teaspoon Seasonings of little white salt and red pepper Umami or monosodium glutamate, for that spicy, flavorful taste (umami is also known as the core, fifth taste which is present in ketchup and will add that tongue-tickling zest to your ketchup).
You may add spices like cloves, garlic, onions, cinnamon sticks etc, to your ketchup for a punch.
Whether you buy a bottle of Heinz from the supermarket or prepare it at home, ketchup is economical so you can afford to relish it in less.
Recipe
Boil together all the spices in a deep pan for 10 min. Cover it with a lid and let it cool. Strain the spices out of the water, throw them away and keep the water for the sauce. Mix all the ingredients in the same pan. Add the spice mix water and boil for 15-20 min, and stir often to save the sauce from forming lumps. Tasty ketchup will be ready in a jiffy.
Pizza Pie
Flour 250 gmButter 125 gm (cold butter is good for making flaky pie)Water as per the need
RecipePrepare a dough with water, grated butter, and flour. Make sure the dough rolls like a ball in your hands and doesn’t stick. Keep it in the refrigerator for 15-20 min. Take a rolling pin and roll them with a pin in a round shape. (dust them with dry flour so that they roll evenly). Preheat the oven and bake the pie for 20 min. Increase the temperature to 375 F and bake for another 20 min. Spread ketchup evenly on the pie and toss some grated Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake for 20 more min. If the sides of the pie are golden brown, it is ready.
Sprinkle red chilly flakes and oregano on top for that sweet smell. Serve (red) hot crackling pie and enjoy it with your loved ones to your heart’s content!
